The R.E.C. Center was founded in 2005 in order to provide a service for the Jewish community by creating a resource for Jewish youth that promotes personal growth and well-being. The acronym R.E.C. stands for the Hebrew words that mean “healing” (Refua), “faith” (Emunah), and “life” (Chaim). The organization was founded by Eliezer Jones, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in Los Angeles, who has been working with children in crisis since 1999. Dr. Jones created this organization out of a need he recognized in the Jewish community for youth programs that focus on the personal health and emotional growth of children and adolescents. The pilot programs include activities for Jewish teens that promote social, leadership, and problem solving skills as well as spiritual growth and life skills. Furthermore, initial programs include parenting programs and a community resource and referral line. The future of the organization will be looking to expand its services to include additional direct educational, social, and clinical programming as well as crisis intervention and therapeutic services. We look forward to assisting Jewish youth reach their maximum potential in collaboration with all those involved in their lives. |
